Local News
I would like to say thank you to all of you who took the time to attend our September 23rd union
meeting. It would be great to see a turnout like that at every meeting. Our meetings are the place
to raise issues of concern and get them resolved. The past meeting was very successful in this regard.
Our next meeting will be held in early December.

There was a new committee formed and it is called the "Member in Distress Committee". The
committee Chairman is Brother Andy Marussich (E.T. at NWP on 2nd trick). He is looking for
volunteers to assist on this committee.

Another issue raised at our union meeting concerned trainees that have successfully completed
phase four but do not as yet own a job. They are still considered Trainees and have NOT secured
their rights. Therefore they will not be permitted to be used as a Maintainer or Signalman!
If this occurs contact your local chairman immediately.

Time Claims and Grievances
We would like you all to be aware that there are forms available for you to utilize in the process of
filing claims and grievances. Please contact your local chairman to obtain these forms. We will soon
have these forms available on our website. We have achieved great success in the outcome of our claims.
We ask that everyone be involved to protect our agreement and fellow brothers and sisters.

Section Six Notices
The section six notices for our craft were delivered to the Director of Labor Relations Ray Burney on
September 25, 2006. We are looking forward to meeting with our negotiating team and ultimately
signing a great contract with labor relations.

Labor Management Committee
The items that formed this committee are continuing to be discussed including Appendix "O"
(Advanced Training) which is an issue that we are making some progress on. Now that summer
vacations are over I expect that scheduling will be easier. Neither we nor the carrier want this to
become a dead issue. It will however take time to resolve.

Contact your General Chairman
Please feel free to contact our committee with any questions or concerns you may have.
We are also open to any suggestions you may have regarding our upcoming round of contract talks.
